  • About the Anthurium Plant. Anthurium, also known as Flamingo Flower, Tail Flower, or Painted Tongue Plant, is a popular house plant. The plant has striking shiny green foliage part of which are specialized as brightly colored flower-like leaves in shades of pink, red, purple, orange and white, which are technically called spathes. The true flowers are small and located on a spike, or "spadix", in the center of the spathes. Individual anthurium “flowers” last 6 weeks or more. Under appropriate care, especially with good light condition, anthurium can bloom year-round. The plants are easy to care for and are known for their air-purifying abilities to remove toxins like formaldehyde, ammonia, toluene, and xylene from the air.
  • Symbolism. Anthuriums are cherished gifts for anniversaries, Valentine's Day, and romantic occasions. Their heart-shaped spathes symbolize love and passion, making these plants an elegant gift.
  • Plant Care Tips. Anthuriums prefer bright, indirect light to keep their health and blooms. Avoid direct sunlight. Water your anthurium regularly when the top layer of soil becomes dry. Avoid too much water which can lead to root rot. In case overwatered, extra water can be poured out gently. Feed your plant biweekly throughout the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer formulated for flowering plants, diluted to 1/4 strength. Prune off dead or dying foliage and spathes with their stem. Anthuriums prefer average to warm temperatures between 65-80°F.
