Description
The lemon cypress, or Goldcrest, is a dwarf evergreen tree with a tight, columnar and shrub-like shape. The plant is exceptional because its bright golden yellow color stands out from the common greens. The pleasant citrus fragrance of its foliage is another unique feature. Goldcrest can be grown outdoors or indoors. Can be planted to the ground or in a container.
Care tips:
Goldcrest requires well-draining soil regardless of the soil texture. This small tree likes full sun and cannot tolerate shade. When grown outside, plant it to a sunny spot. Â Indoors, direct sunlight is necessary. Even so, grow light and LED light can provide enough light for its thriving. Although it likes low temperatures when grown indoors, it is not cold hardy in the USDA zones lower than 7. Do not let the soil dry out or the plant will be damaged. The plant can be fed in the beginning of the growing season with a slow releasing plant food.Â
