What you will get:

You will receive green polka dot plants (Hypoestes phyllostachya) growing in a 4" pot.

General features and fun points:

Polka dot plant (Hypoestes Phyllostachya) known also as freckle face plant, are ideal for the indoor home garden with very colorful foliage. In the native habitat of Madagascar polka dot plants can grow up to 3 feet in height, but plants grown indoors are typically smaller, and can easily fit on a desk in the office or at home. They are many cultivars, each with a unique color of leaves and spotting pattern. The base color of leaves is pink or green with speckles of purple, scarlet, lavender, rose or white. These adorable plants look great as a combination of different varieties of polka dot plants, or when mixed with other plants such as Calathea. Grouping plants can help with optimizing humidity as plants transpire and can humidify one another.

Care tips:

Soil – Polka dot plant requires even moisture to grow well. This is best delivered by planting in a soil that is rich, yet well-draining. An organic potting soil is ideal.

Light – Light affects flowering. Polka dot plant will give the best color of leaves when located in a low-light, but this could cause the stems to lengthen. Indirect, bright light is the best.

Water – Water polka dot plant enough to keep the soil consistently moist (but not soggy). This colorful houseplant will wilt if it dries out too much, but is quick to spring back to life when you water it again. If watered too much, polka dot plant will easily succumb to root rot. Underwatering can cause less damage than overwatering.

Temperature – Polka dot plants prefer the same temperatures most people find comfortable: between 70-80°F during the day, and around 65–70°F at night.

Feeding – Fertilize polka dot plant minimum once or twice a year with a general-purpose houseplant fertilizer. You may feed this colorful houseplant more often, even once a month, just be sure to follow the directions on the fertilizer packaging.

Special care – If polka dot plant gets too tall, you can prune it back at any time. A little “haircut” will help to keep the plant as a small and bushy houseplant.
